One of our aunts in Taiwan is now really sick from her cancer. My mom will probably be flying to Taiwan in the next week. Although I had known about the cancer for a while, it still is a pretty big shock. She looked so well when we went to Taiwan just 2 months ago, it makes you wonder how fast things can change. It makes me question my own mortality too. She is still fairly young. She should be in the golden years of her life, taking care of her children and not the other way around. A mother should not be watching her daughter pass away. Many "what if's" come into play: what if she had annual physicals; what if she had gone to the doctor as soon as something wasn't right? Would we have caught the cancer at its early stages? A lot of things shouldn't be the way they are, but we still have to accept them for what they are. We will probably be withdrawing life support soon. She was and always will be my favorite aunt...
